Why we write about Lombok
Lombok is Bali’s quieter neighbour — and for families who have already done Bali and want something with fewer crowds, a slower pace and genuinely empty beaches, it makes a lot of sense. We have visited multiple times with our three kids and have a good feel for what works and what requires more planning than you might expect.
It is less developed than Bali, which is part of the appeal — but also means fewer options, more variable infrastructure and less English spoken in the villages. We write about that tradeoff honestly.
