Why we write about Lombok
Lombok is Bali’s quieter neighbour, and for families who have already done Bali and want something with fewer crowds, a slower pace and genuinely empty beaches, it makes a lot of sense. We have visited multiple times with our three kids and have a good feel for what works and what requires more planning than you might expect.
It is less developed than Bali, which is part of the appeal, but also means fewer options, more variable infrastructure and less English spoken in the villages. We write about that tradeoff honestly.
